Ohhhhh my goodness that video made me laugh! (Once I'd been to Wiki to work out who the hell Weezy was.... thought I'd best do that first. Nice one Jay.)

No Willow I haven't heard from Mrs T. But as I am constantly waiting for an announcement to say that she's been given some international high flying job commentating on Mrs O, this comes as NO surprise.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 1:55 PM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

I LIED! It was in my Spam box, how hilarious. I've just emailed you Willow.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 2:05 PM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

Post Tater - I'm so excited that you've made the attempt, and so disappointed that I cannot get an email from you unless I have your email address to put on my whitelist. I did put @Mrs.-O.org on my whitelist, hoping that would allow an email from Mrs. T to reach me with your email address. Is there some way for you to let me know, Mrs. T, if your email address is something other than @Mrs.-O.org?

Thank you so much. Looking forward to chatting with Posh Tater.

Mrs. T - I'm sorry. The fault may be mine. I had a period after the Mrs in my white list. I have corrected it to @mrs-o.org. If you try again, I should get it this time.

So sorry for my mistake. I hope this fixes it. Thank you for your help.

Well I'm a @yahoo.co.uk so you could put that in and I'll try again.

Willow, thanks for posting the link to the Wanda Sykes video. She ain't never lied! Sadly, as a woman of color, Judge Sotomayor is now going to have to deal with similar sterotypes and prejudices.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 3:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterMe

Goodness! Talk about setting it up as a problem in advance! As far as I can gather, all the brou ha ha regarding Judge Sotomayor has come about because she's a liberal. And a WOMAN. (Gasp, shock, horror: "But their brains overheat!") I don't think the critics have even thought of colour. And let's face it, even if there was nothing to complain about, they would make something up.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 3:47 PM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

Thank you so much, Mrs. T. I got your email this time. Post Tater, I've just emailed you, and put you on my white list. If you resend, I should get it this time.

Gotta run just now. Later.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 3:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterWillow

Posh Tater -- Please don't be fooled. If Judge Sotomayor wasn't a Latina, trust me no one would be on tv trying to convince people that she's really not that smart. (I mean really she graduated second in her class at Princeton and then went on to be Editor of the Law Review at Yale! And she's had a very varied and distinquished career!) Plus, there's all this talk about how her ethnic background could impact her impartiality as a Justice. (Also, as an aside, as a judge, her record appears to be quite moderate...)

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 4:19 PM | Unregistered CommenterMe

Change has come to American, and many old boy network is rejecting change. Too bad, for they dislike the President for being black, now is the same thing towards a qualified Latina.

This is so funny on Jay Leno last night. Wanda Sykes talked about Michelle Obama.

@ Bevi:

Regarding Camp David, I wonder if that's intentionally a completely photo-free zone? I can understand the benefits of that; having a place where you can truly relax.I don't know if I've ever seen any pictures other than presidents going to and from Camp David on the helicopter; I don't recall seeing any pictures of them hanging out there.

And, we see what happened when the Obamas vacationed in Hawaii, so their opportunities for total privacy are limited.

Re Mrs. Bush and the White House press: I wonder if she was just a more private person in general. Mrs. O is a lot of things, but a shrinking violet is not one of them. Sometimes that gets her in a bit of trouble, as we saw during the campaign.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 5:50 PM | Unregistered CommenterChristina

Ater seeing pic #2, it looks like Mrs. O has lost weight. I remember that Thakoon dress being very fitted, almost tight. Personally I loved the fit then. Now it looks a bit loose. Or maybe I'm not seeing properly lol (and I'm tired lol)

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 7:07 PM | Unregistered CommenterIris

Hey Christina & Bevi,

I was wondering the same thing about Camp David. I never paid much attention to it before. The other night, I googled it. Lots' of sites popped up...with a few pictures.
It's interesting. I didn't know it was a Navy/Marine base.
It looks relaxing. Re- Mrs. Bush, I think she was more of a private person. Maybe not as comfortable as Mrs. O is with the camera. I do admire Mrs. Bush for her obvious kindness shown to Michelle. I thought having the two grown Bush girls
give the O girls a tour was thoughtful as a Mom.

My homepage is comcast.net and they have a "President Obama Behind the Scenes" slideshow available. It runs slowly, so I haven't seen the whole thing, but there is an adorable picture of POTUS giving FLOTUS a big - and apparently unexpected - hug in what I think is the Red Room of the WH. Very cute and it actually looks candid! I'm sure there are other good ones as well. Go to Comcast.net and you will see it on the left hand side where the headlines are. Have fun!

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 7:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterOperaFanatic

Not sure if this has been mentioned but there is a wonderful article in US News and World Report that is entitled "Michelle Obama Shakes Up the East Wing" Read the entire article and at the end they have photos, some of them I haven't seen, especially "behind the scene ones" Enjoy!

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 7:58 PM | Unregistered CommenterMJ

I finally got thru the pictures, and discovered several which Mrs. T posted here. So, I may be the last person on earth to see these . . .
but #66, while not a great picture of MO, does show her in the violet jacket I think she wore on the train to DC before the inauguration, with an emerald green cami trimmed in black lace underneath. Belted, of course. With black slacks. She has such a great color sense. She looks fabulous. I must say that even though she has legs to die for, she also looks awfully good in slacks.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 8:08 PM | Unregistered CommenterOperaFanatic

the hostesses in green do look like they are hanging on to Michelle's every word. that dress looks super! the length and the shoes, it looks terrific.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 8:52 PM | Unregistered CommenterJo

What I love about the picture with the young women in the green dresses is that those dresses are so MO-ish. As is the orange print dress on the woman on the right. I was on edressme.com a few days ago, and they actually have a section in which they sell "Michelle Obama Style" dresses. Talk about influence.

Thursday, May 28, 2009 at 10:20 PM | Unregistered CommenterOperaFanatic

@ OperaFanatic - I checked out the website and the Michelle Obama style section doesn't look like anything she'd wear, apart from the knock-off inauguration gown. That's too bad.

seems like Mrs. O is having a pretty uneventful week. this saddens me.

I CANNOT WAIT for when the Council for Fashion Designer's of America honours..i know she is going to look amazing that night!

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 12:02 AM | Unregistered CommenterRory

The thing I love about the center photo is that, with all of the girls dressed alike in that bright color and gathered around the "queen" in the center, and the way the light is illuminating the group, it almost looks like a scene from a stage production. Something mythological or maybe even Shakesperian. How fun!

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:09 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. G

And the way MO is standing and the way her mouth is positioned, she could be singing. No, I haven't gone crazy! I just like that photo!

And back to fashion, I like the shape and fit of that dress on her. It seems very slimming (I'm not saying she needs to be slimmed! I'm just saying the dress does have that effect.)

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:12 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. G

Hi Me. I do take the point. It's just that the article I read was focussing on her liberality as a "problem".

Your comment "trust me, if she wasn't a Latina"... It is possible that the objection could have been levelled at her because she's female. We get that here STILL! Criticism of female Members of Parliament that they can't be doing their job properly because the media only focusses on their shoes. Or successful bankers because they can't possibly be one of the most successful women in the City AND bring up five children properly.

I mean, hello???!

It may be that "too liberal" was a Sykesism. (My new name for a journalistic euphemism that dances around the race issue.) But I'm not going there. I simply refuse to give these idiot people and their issues longevity.

Actually, although Wanda's was a very funny gag, I did think it was a smidge unfair to all the people for whom that would be the last thing they were wondering about. Presumably Michelle's 72% approval poll can't come from people who are ALL waiting for Weezy?

Anyhoo, the whiny-&ssed complainers may well be complaining because Judge Sotomayor is Latina. Myself, I'm going with "but it should have been old Jim - it was his turn - we decided at the club."

The bottom line is: she got the job. Because of who she is. And those misery guts can't take it away from her.

Mwahahaha.

Ms. G - the Thakoon one? Yes, it's a shape I would never have picked for Mrs O, but she really makes it work.

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:32 AM | Unregistered CommenterPosh Tater

Posh Tater,

Yes, the Thakoon dress. Others have said they don't like the print; and although I can't see enough of the detail in the print to have a strong opinion about it, I really do like the shape.

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:53 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. G

I've noticed that I tend to think she looks best in the more fitted shapes that don't add bulk. She often prefers the pleats and fuller silhouettes; and since she's buying her clothes, not I :), that's fine with me. But the ones I most enjoy seeing her in are the ones that give a sleeker silhouette.

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 9:56 AM | Unregistered CommenterMs. G

Posh Tater - have you checked your SPAM box for my email? It should be there. Now that I have you on my white list, I should get your email if your resend it. Looking forward to hearing from you.

MICHELLE WENT TO GO VISIT A SCHOOL TODAY AND THERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF HER ON DAYLIFE.COM LOOKING BEAUTIFUL AS ALWAYS.

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 4:53 PM | Unregistered CommenterEve V

The white blouse she's wearing under the yellow today I recognize from the early days of the campaign. It looks like the blouse featured in the "South Side Girl" DNC biography video---look for the blouse at about the 4:33 mark: www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=2Utt-6HumUU.

I could be wrong, but I have seen that blouse quite a few times over 2 years. She looks so youthful, and she kind of blends in with everyone else--likes she's a schoolteacher. Mrs. O has been pretty low-key with press this week, probably because Mrs. O knows she'll be "press-saturated" when she's traveling abroad soon.

@ Janelle - I also believe that part of why she laid low is because of the long holiday, and then Mr. O traveled for 2 days to the W. Coast. Plus, she's got the big trip to get herself and him ready for.

@ V. France - glad I could lift your spirits with that article. I thought it was written in a charming way. This is a lovely time to be in Paris, so I hope they get to enjoy themselves without too many prying cameras! I doubt it though.

Friday, May 29, 2009 at 5:22 PM | Unregistered CommenterIVA

Janelle, you're absolutely right. I've definitely seen that blouse before.

Posh Tater - I entered your email address on my white list yesterday, after you first sent your message. I wouldn't have gotten your first attempt, but should have no trouble getting anything sent after that. I hope we can connect.

Paris sounds lovely. How romantic.

From the causus ny times blog:

For all of the people sprawled out on those lawn chairs along shuttered Broadway in Times Square, take note: A certain famous family plans to be awfully close by on Saturday evening.

President Obama and his wife, Michelle, plan to visit New York City on Saturday and take in a Broadway show, the August Wilson play “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone” at the Belasco Theater on West 44th Street, according to three theater executives who have been informed of the First Family’s plans.

The theater executives spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the president’s itinerary, and cautioned that the trip was subject to change.

“The president and the first lady will be making a personal visit to New York tomorrow,” said Bill Burton, a spokesman for the president, who declined to elaborate on the schedule.

The Obamas plan to attend the 8 p.m. performance of “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone,” a critically acclaimed production that has been nominated for six Tony Awards, including best revival of a play

All right! All right! I will get metallic silver flats, Mrs. O! You've forced me to do so, even though my feet are flat as a pancake and look crazy-bad in flats. But I just feel compelled to do it.

In seriousness...what a cute top! Pretty flowers to wear to talk about gardening. I like it better without the cardigan, because you can see the print of the blouse through the cardigan (it's probably one of those fine cashmere ones that she likes a lot, and that I like too.)

But it's very cute and Bancroft is so close to where I used to live. That was my voting precinct. I swear I'm going to run into Barack and Michelle in the grocery store one day. They are really making themselves at home.

Wow! Its been awhile. I have visited but haven't been able to comment. I'm back in America, YAY!! But I'll keep my name so that folks who know me by this name won't be confused.

FYI Mrs. T and everyone: The First Lady's official page on whitehouse(dot)gov has been updated to reflect all of her speeches, appearances, and pics. YAY! Here's the website:
