Homeward Bound

The president and first lady left Oslo, Norway this morning to return to Washington, DC.
Of note is Mrs. O's choice of suit, the camel and black Narciso Rodriguez ensemble worn during the inauguration for the "We Are One" concert. Several pieces first and last seen during the inauguration have been reintroduced in the past few days by the first lady, perhaps signaling the significance of the occasion.

I noticed something with the length issue of the Alaia dress. If you look at this picture, of her when they are waving to the crowd at the hotel, the dress hits the floor perfectly. This is presumably from the beginning of the evening, she probably hasn't been wearing the dress for long.

Then look at this picture of them dancing, presumably at the end of the night, after they've taken pictures, eaten, etc., and notice how much more it is dragging:

I believe this dress is made of stretchy material. I have a pair of pants like this where it fits perfectly but as the day progresses, it stretches and around the bum and waist, and after some time even gets too long, and just overall it looses its shape and gets stretched out.
I think the dress was tailored fine. I think the problem is that it doesn't wear well. Normal walking, moving, standing, sitting, etc. stretches the dress. I think it is also heavy which adds to the stretching down problem.
I think this may have been an oversight on the part of the designer and Mrs. O. They probably should've made the dress a little shorter than normal which would've given it the room to stretch.
So, based on looking at the two pictures - one from the beginning of the night and one from the end - it appears that this dress has a "design flaw" in that the stretchy material is weighed down and thus the dress loses it's shape and original length.
I have to say that the belt (wide though it is) really worked for me in this ourfit---which I agree is one of her very best looks, I also liked the dress AND jacket from the Oslo ball---though perhaps it was difficult for FLOTUS to move easily bec/of length issues...
Rossely I've been trying to post examples on how to link to a site, but for some reason the posts come out wrong. You can go to this site to learn how. The "An HTML Link" and the "The href Attribute" sections of the site will help you with this.
I learned how to post a hot link from someone who taught us here many moons ago. This is what she wrote:
If the link is "http//:Mrs.O.com" and you want to title it "Michelle" write the following:
<*a href="http//:Mrs.O.com">Michelle<*/a> (just remove the stars)
The stars are there to keep the example from becoming a hot link.
Thank you Ari and Willow. I will test out my new found knowledge below. Hope it works.
The fab boots, with buckle
Congrats, Rossley, You did it!
What a beautiful couple! Congratulations President Obama on a well-deserved Nobel Peace Award. My family and I stand solidly behind you! Shalom.
Another perfect choice. Mrs O really hasn't put a sartorial foot wrong this trip. She makes it look a breeze, dressing for occasions that would have most of us shaking in our shoes a week in advance. Nice to see this outfit again. It's not one that makes my pulse lift (too... normal), but the hair and boots give it some oomph this time around.
Well done Mr Obama. You deserved it - and don't let anyone tell you different.
